Improv Comedy in Buffalo NY

Buffalo Improv House is the premiere improv, sketch, and alternative comedy company in Western New York. We've been teaching improv classes and putting on Buffalo's best improv shows since 2022, and we just opened our dedicated comedy theater and training center at 255 Great Arrow Avenue in North Buffalo's historic Pierce Arrow Commerce Park!

Our goal is to be the force behind the improv comedy scene in Western New York by providing world-class improv instruction, by producing high-quality and incredibly fun improv shows, and by being the pipeline connecting Buffalo with the international improv comedy scene. Our teachers are excellent and our growing community is very cool, welcoming, and wildly creative.

DAN REITZ is the founder and creative director of Buffalo Improv House, a Buffalo native, and a 24-year veteran of improv comedy. In New York City he was the musical director or featured performer with several popular improv comedy shows, including the award-winning Your Love, Our Musical, Baby Wants Candy, and Blank! The Musical. He has been featured on multiple episodes of the Off Book: The Improvised Musical Podcast starring Zach Reino and Jessica McKenna, and he wrote a couple songs with Robert Smigel for Leo, the recently released kids movie by Happy Madison productions and Netflix Animation. Dan is the co-founder of Zamboni Revolution, Syracuse University's improv comedy troupe. Before the pandemic he taught improv and ensemble comedy at Sarah Lawrence College, was on the faculty at the Magnet Theater, and performed weekly at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater and the People’s Improv Theater. His other improv comedy credits include the Edinburgh Fringe, the Annoyance Theater, ComedySportz NYC, the Williamstown Theater Festival, the SteelStacks Improv Festival, Comic Con NYC, and the New York Comedy Festival. He's also a trombone player who does stuff.

ANNIE MOOR is an illustrator and improviser, having performed and taught longform and musical improv at the People’s Improv Theater and Magnet Theater in NYC since 2008, and now in Buffalo! Originally from Southeast Texas, Annie attended Walnut Hill School of the Arts for high school in Natick, MA, and later received her BFA from NYU Tisch Film & TV, focusing on animation and creative writing. Annie is co-owner of Buffalo Improv House with her husband Dan, and is so excited for the vibrant improv community that is growing here in Buffalo! You can see her improvising with the Faculty, Various Factors Musical Improv, and the HaHa Show at BIH, and Unscripted (the 2-act improvised play) at Road Less Travelled Productions. You can find her full portfolio of illustrated products and custom work at anniemoorillustration.com. When not doing all of those things, she’s chasing after her young daughters and making weird jokes to playground moms!

CAITLIN STEITZER has been performing, studying, and teaching improv for over 25 years if you can believe it. Before moving to Buffalo she could be seen performing regularly at the Magnet Theater in NYC, around the country at festivals with her indie team Honey, and hosting comedy variety shows at ABC NoRio and around Brooklyn. Weirdly enough, she is also a licensed clinical social worker, and has used improv throughout her career to build community and foster confidence in people from all walks of life. Her research on the connections between social group work and improv theater was published in the Journal for Social Group Work and presented at the 2010 International Association for Social Work with Groups Annual Symposium. When she was still in graduate school, Caitlin designed and implemented the Diversity Program at the Upright Citizens' Brigade Theater in NYC, one of the first of its kind in the country. As a social worker, she spent over 8 years at the nationally renowned Center for Family Life (CFL) in Sunset Park, Brooklyn and taught improv to maybe a gajillion people throughout all five boroughs. When not nerding out about improv theater she can be found hanging out with her dog and her husband, riding her bike, or creating dance music playlists.

DIEGO MARTINEZ has been performing and coaching improv and sketch comedy since 2010. He has studied across various theaters in Atlanta, Georgia and New York City and has performed all over the United States, Canada, and the internet. Diego has also tried out for every NBA team, but has been told he is too good to play in the league
